SURGICAL POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Bite on applied gauze for one hour, then remove and discard.
2. Avoid vigorous rinsing or spitting for 24 hours.
3. Avoid carbonated drinks. No sucking through a straw.
4. No smoking, if you are inclined to do so.
5. Expect some drainage or blood in saliva for next 24 hours, if
so apply pressure by biting on gauze.
6. Bite on gauze firmly if bleeding resumes during next 24 hours.
7. Take medication as directed.
8. Begin warm salt water rinses the day after surgery at least 4
times a day.
9. Maintain a soft diet until comfortable to chew.

834-5833 with any questions or problems.
11. You might need a follow-up consultation to evaluate healing
and determine the best means of replacing your diseased teeth.
12. Use ice packs externally for 24 hours to reduce swelling.
Swelling may continue for next few days, if the case, ice packs
are recommended for 15 min on 15 min off for that duration of time.
The ice application can be continued up to 72 hours
